What is Family Economic Success (FES)?
Vibrant Communities Edmonton has adopted the Family Economic Success framework developed by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
The Annie E. Casey Foundation defines family economic success as: (1) the presence of sufficient and predictable resources and connections to meet basic family needs, emergencies, and aspirations for improving quality of life, (2) ongoing investments in lifelong learning for the entire family, and (3) assets that grow with the family over time, such as a home and retirement accounts.
To help build family economic success in Edmonton, Vibrant Communities Edmonton has three key strategies:
- Community Investments – help families become home owners and obtain banking services that meet their needs
- Workforce Development – help families obtain jobs that pay wages or provide benefits that support their family even in emergencies
